Tell us a little bit about yourself…

My name is Darnesha Moore . I am from Chicago IL. I play tennis and I have been playing since I was 3. I competed and traveled during juniors earning a full ride scholarship to Southern University at 16 years old. At Southern I contributed to a historic 5 and 6 peat Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Championship . I graduated from Southern early in 3 years and started my coaching career in Malibu at a Nike Tennis Camp at Pepperdine University. Next, I interned with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Player Development Department. I currently run my own program Moore Quality Tennis, LLC.

What is your ultimate goal?

My ultimate goal is to introduce character, life skills and help my students gain an edge in competition including athleticism and mental skills .

How do you motivate yourself to achieve this goal?

I am a very goal oriented person. I set goals for myself and developmental plans for my athletes. I think what motivates me is the fact that I have this talent, passion and desire to be a better version of myself and help others realize that there are no limits and that you can push past your internal barriers. I have been through some tough life experiences but the struggles molded me and made me a better person. I know I can help advocate that same life lesson to others.

What is your best sport memory?

My best sport memory was my freshman year clinching the last match to win my first championship. It felt so good to be able to contribute to my team and university. When I won the match everyone came running onto my court and jumping. We had just made history by winning 5 championships in a row. Nothing beats that moment of reaping the rewards of your blood, sweat, tears and hard work. After we won I was named MVP. Nothing beats that moment.

Who is your role model?

My role model is my aunt. Shea taught me how to play tennis and before she put a racquet in my hand she made me promise that I would I always give back. She has set a secure foundation for me

What is your favorite training exercise and why?

My favorite training exercise is ladder drills ! I love ladder drills because they improve your footwork, speed and quickness drastically!! Ladder drills can also be fun and creative with almost any athlete.
