Tell us a little bit about yourself…

I’m a fitness trainer, music curator, wellness coach, podcast host, event coordinator, and I DJ and have a couple radio shows. I’ve been involved with music and producing events most of my life, while also working in the health and wellness industry with a focus on plant-based nutrition and fitness. It was only natural for me to combine my interests into one project, which is what ASS CAMP is today!

What is your ultimate goal?

My ultimate goal is to achieve my desired fitness form and to help as many people as possible achieve optimal health and fitness with a holistic approach. I absolutely love sharing my methods and approach to health and fitness with others because I know ways to make it fun. When it doesn’t feel like a difficult and inconvenient task, a healthy way of living can come naturally and organically as part of a lifestyle.

How do you motivate yourself to achieve this goal?

I’ve never needed much motivation to stay fit or healthy— it’s been second nature to me my entire life. I want to look and feel good and prevent disease. I don’t need to motivate myself to help others either, if anything I have to tone myself down because I don’t want to come off too pushy lol. If I could have it my way everyone would be on a healthy plant-based diet and together we’d all be saving the world, saving animals, dancing around together with lower cholesterol and more energy.

What is your best sport memory?

I used to ride my bike every day for about 15 years living in San Francisco, New York, and Los Angeles as a form of transportation. I don’t ride as frequently because I am often lugging equipment around and my dog is often with me, but I miss the rides that felt both meditative and exhilarating, without ever feeling like exercise. I had an excellent physique naturally from riding my bike 20-30 miles a day without barely setting foot in the gym.

Who is your role model?

My dog Kiwi. She gets a minimum of 8 hours of sleep a night and wakes up with enough energy to hike or run for hours straight. She is easy-going but she always gets what she wants. She also has amazing glutes from all the sprinting and stair-climbing we do together. She almost always has a smile on her face. Truly an inspiration.

What is your favorite training exercise and why?

I love Donkey Kicks. They strengthen your lower back and glutes, and my version focus on the glutes and hamstrings even more.  This is a go-to for me to tighten the core but add nice curvy muscle mass to the backside. The upward-driving kicks, performed from a hands and knees position, target your glutes, but also work your hamstrings, hips and core. The weight of your legs provide resistance to strengthen these muscles as you push up against the downward force of gravity. With Scandinavian Sports resistance bands, they add 20 lbs of weight resistance adding even more to this efficient workout. I used to use ankle weights, but the resistance bands are not only more comfortable, but they are easy to travel with so I can do my donkey kicks and other workouts anywhere in the world.
